Recent years have led to an emphasis on attracting and assimilating new participants into the Thoroughbred business. This years $4.2 million sale-topper was one of three seven-figure yearlings sold, and new buyers are filling the gap for 2010 sales. We could not be more proud to have associated with first time sellers Jerry and John Amerman, and new buyer Benjamin Leon Jr. whose aspiration is to own the very finest Thoroughbreds …
“I always had the dream of someday maybe being able to get into the Thoroughbred family, not on a quantity basis but on a quality basis, to do it right,” said Mr. Leon.

This is exactly the philosophy at Mill Ridge Farm. Our number of horses offered for sale is under what most leading consignors offer — however, our emphasis has always been quality over quantity. Through the first six sessions of the sale, Mill Ridge sold 19 horses for $7,397,000, including a $500,000 Dynaformer colt who was the highest-priced colt during the fourth session. Our record of ‘Raising and Selling 28 G1 winners since 2000’ is indicative of the quality team and services available to our clients, who are the very best in the business. Caring for all of our clients’ needs is our #1 emphasis, and that is what leads us to consistently carry the banner of #1 consignor year after year. Mill Ridge Farm and Nicoma Bloodstock provide a unique combination to achieve. Whether raising, selling, buying, breeding, matings or racing management, the history of Mill Ridge Farm and the proven record of Nicoma Bloodstock blend together to form a secure foundation in an industry facing enormous challenges.

The 2010 #1 consignor by average at the Keeneland September sale, Mill Ridge is the fifth leading consignor by total sales, offering less than a quarter of the total number of horses than the leading consignor. The Keeneland November sale again shows Mill Ridge Sales as the #1 consignor by average. Our method is never to become a factory, or to take every horse available to auction. Quality is our first priority in all phases of service to our clients.
While we are very proud to sell high-priced yearlings, we are most proud with the results on the racetrack of raising and selling racehorses. We think this is the foundation for potential buyers pursuing our sales horses, and separates us from other consignors.
