“The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change
amid order.” — Alfred North Whitehead

That’s how we’ve handled change at Mill Ridge throughout
the years … with order. In January, the Mill Ridge legacy was handed to another,
whose hopes and dreams run the same current as those who came before him, my son
Headley, a fifth generation horseman. Our mission to always put the welfare of
the horse first, remains our steadfast purpose. My father, Hal Price Headley,
had definite opinions about his horses and his land — the correct way to manage
a farm, and how to raise a racehorse. My son Headley does as well, and he does
it with an ease that Price Headley would have admired. As we learn from those
who came before us, we look to use that knowledge to make the future better, and
my hopes for Mill Ridge have never been brighter!
Ten years ago John and I watched as Keeper Hill won the Spinster Stakes
at Keeneland, a track my father worked so hard to make a reality. Since then, we
have added 23 Grade 1 winners to those bred, raised or sold by Mill Ridge. The
quality of these Grade 1 winners is a phenomenal achievement, and nothing gives
me greater pleasure than to share this with dear friends and family.
